Khao San market is well-known to any backpackers travelling to Bangkok. Not only is it an ideal place for you to discover Thai street foods like Pad Thai or Chang beer-Thai famous Singha beer but also you can find a lot of souvenirs that diverse genres from dresses, shoes to the small jewelry with reasonable price. Khao San neighborhood is connected to Chakrabongse and Tanao Road, just off Ratchadamnoen Klang Road. Ask any taxi driver or tuk tuk driver and they can bring you here.
Khao San is busy all days. During the daytime, there are a lot of food stalls opened to serve the visitors to Khao San, but as the sun comes down, the music rises and the neighborhood begins to bustle like a festival. Around 11 o’clock onwards the atmosphere gradually settles down.
The mall is a mere shopping area in daytime, but at night Silom is transformed into a tourist center with temporary outlets on both sidewalks, selling mostly souvenirs and accessories. Besides Silom, Patpong is the famous shopping and entertainment area. This street are home to more than 100 bars, massage parlors, karaoke parlors … and a night market that attracts tourists with a variety of souvenir items.
The Silom area stretches from Dusit Thani Hotel on the corner of Dusit Thani Road to Charoenkrung Road. Take the skytrain to Sala Daeng station and get off at the middle of the road.
Silom hawkers are only open from 18:00 to 01:00 from Tuesday to Sunday, while the Patpong District opens until 2am all day of the week.
Pak Khlong Talat
Unlike other night markets, Pak Khlong Talat is a unique market in Bangkok with fresh flower stalls that are full of colors and light scent spread in the air which brings comfort to visitors. Coming here, you can find a lot of beautiful ornamental bonsai pots and many kinds of flowers like marigolds, jasmine, roses which are skillfully crafted into soft wreaths or beautiful orchid bunches. In addition, in Pak Khlong Talat market, there are also betel leaves, vegetables, fruit and drinks stations that serve lavender soft drinks.
The market is located along Maharat Road, near the fork between Chakraphet Road and Saphan Phut Night Market. From the Saphan Taksin train stop, you can take a boat ride to Saphan Phut harbor or take a taxi.
The market opens all the day and after 2 a.m is the busiest time.
The Ratchayothin opened- air night market mostly serves locals or people waiting for the film in Major Cineplex Ratchayothin.The items mainly sold here are clothes (trend of Japan, Korea), cosmetics, jewelry, phone accessories and many other items at very affordable prices. In some stores at Ratchayothin market, you can pay by credit card. There is a jazz music bar here for those who are not interested in shopping much.
The market is located next to Major Cineplex Ratchayothin. The nearest MRT stations are Mo Chit and Phahonyothin, from there you catch a taxi or motorbike taxi .The market opens from 16:00 pm to 23:00 pm from Tuesday to Sunday.
The night market near the memorial bridge (or Saphan Phut) is a place to attract many local youths because the market sells secondhand cheap goods. A lot of merchandise and services, from pipe to bag, from tattoos to T-shirts aimed at shoppers who are college students. The underside of the bridge is Bangkok’s favorite rendezvous and you can also find cartoonists who draw your humorous picture at a very cheap price. Especially in this area, there are delicious squid eggs that you should try. You can follow the stairs leading up to the bridge to admire the beautiful scenery of Chao Phraya River. The market opens after 6 pm, from Tuesday to Sunday.
