Travelling by airplane

Like traveling to Phuket or Chiang Mai, you can get to Krabi from Bangkok by airplane. Every day, the domestic airlines offer the flight from Bangkok to Krabi such as Bangkok Airways, Thai Airways, Thai Lion Air and Nok Air. The ticket price is 2.500 baht. You can get a sale for 1.700 baht.

Each flight takes about one hour and a half and you have to check-in one hour before the flight. The traffic jam in Bangkok is terrible, so make sure you arrive the airport on time.

How to get to the airport in Bangkok?

Air Asia, Nok Air and Thai Lion Air at Don Muang Airport

The backpackers often choose this airline because of their price. From Bangkok center, you can take a taxi with the price of 200-300 bath to get to DonMuang Airport in 30 – 60 minutes. Or you can take the bus A1 from BTS Mochit with the price of 30 baths in 45 minutes. The bus operates from 8.30 am to 10.30 pm.

Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways at Suvarnabhumi Airport

The airport has a transportation system to the center, which includes a free shuttle from the airport to the car rental center and the bus stop. From these stations, there are buses operating all the day all over the city. The price is around 35 baht per person.

Travelling by train

There are no direct trains from Bangkok to Krabi. You will departure from Hua Lam Phong station (Bangkok) to Surat Thani, Trang or Tug Song Station then take the bus to Krabi.

For the Hua Lam Phong – Surat Thani route, you can travel by day train or night train. It takes about eight hours and forty-five minutes to travel, so you should buy the second class ticket which includes the air-conditioning and meals. For the night train, it takes about eleven hours and forty-five minutes. The first class ticket price is about 1500 bath and the second one is 960 baht. (The price may be changed in the period of time).

Getting to Hua Lam Phong station in Bangkok

Hua Lam Phong Station is the place gathering tourists to Krabi, Chiang Mai and other provinces of Thailand. You can travel by MRT from the city center or take the BTS to Sala Daeng. You can also take the bus or taxi, but you will get the traffic jam in Bangkok.

Travelling by bus

Unlike the train, you can travel directly from Bangko to Krabi by bus. The buses with air-conditioner departure from Sothern Bus Station ( Sai Tai Mai) in the evening and it will take about 11 hours to get to Krabi. The price is about 920 baht and you can sleep on the bus. You should check the ticket price and the bus schedule to choose the appropriate departure time.

Getting to Southern Bus Station from Bangkok

The easiest way to get to Southern Bus station from the ancient town is to travel by taxi. The price is about 120 baht. Another way is to take the BTS to Sukhumvit station.

If you travel with kids, the airplane is the best choice. Or if you want to save money, traveling by bus is the best way.
