Koh Samed (Koh Samet) is a beautiful small island located in the Southeast Thailand. The island is quite deserted and receives few foreign tourists. It’s small but full-equipped for tourism activities. If you like peace, you can choose Koh Samet to relax of for your honey moon. These are the guides for you when visiting Koh Samet.

How to get there

There are two ways to get to Koh Samet from Bangkok

1.  You take the taxi or BTS from BKK centre or Suvarnabhumi to Ekkamai station. Then you will buy the bus ticket with the price of 157 bahts. The earliest trip is at 7 am and the latest one is at 7 pm. The bus runs every hour and it takes about 4 hours to get to Koh Samed ferry.

If you are at Khao San street, you can take the bus number 2 to Ekamai station.

2.  You get to Victory Monument then take the van with the price of 200 baht. This car runs to Rayong ferry and it takes about three hours.

Buy the boat ticket to Koh Samed

The round-trip ticket boat is about 100 bahts and it will take about 45 minutes. Another way is to travel by canoe with the price of 1000 bahts. It’s quite expensive but you don’t have to wait.

When the boat arrives, get off and go to the taxi station. The price ranges from 10 to 20 bahts. One car can accommodate 10 people. The car will stop at the park gate. The ticket price is 200 bahts for foreigners and 40 bahts for Thai people, so you can ask Thai to buy the ticket.

Boat to Koh Samet (via 12go.asia)

You can stay on the island one or two days. There are not many destinations to visit, mostly relax, swim or spend time with family. The normal itinerary is 2 days and one night. You can also stay here for 3 days and 2 nights.

You can combine visiting Koh Samed island and Pattaya. You visit Koh Samed then come back Pattaya at night.

Hotels at Koh Samet

You should choose Sai Kaew area, where there are many beautiful beaches, bar and restaurants. You should book the accommodation in advance because this is the place where Bangkok people often visit on holidays or summer. In addition, booking online is cheaper.

Some good hotels and resorts at Koh Samed

Sunrise Villas: near Nadan ferry. This is bungalow villa with the sea view. The room is quite small. This hotel has the beautiful view and the room service is good. There is a bridge near the hotel where you can fish and swim. The Sai Kaew beach is about one kilometre from the hotel.

Lima Bella Resort: located in Sai Kaew area. It’s designed beautifully with a small swimming pool and the swim area for kids. The staffs here are friendly and well-trained.

In addition, you can choose Jep’sBungalows because the price is reasonable.

You can easily rent a motorbike to travel around the island because the rental service is available. The cost ranges from 100 to 300 bahts depending on types of motorbike. You have to deposit about 1000 bahts when you rent the motorbike.

What to do in Koh Samed

Koh Samed is famous for white sand beaches. You can swim, sun bath on the beach and enjoy the cocktail. You can spend one day on the beaches and one day to explore the island.

You can use motorbike or ATV car to travel around the island or walk to hills in the afternoon.

–    Fish the squid at night
–    Visit Koh Samed temple
–    Diving
–    Explore and take photos at natural caves
–    Enjoy the dinner at the beach. You can choose the restaurants with different menus and prices. After the dinner, you can walk along the beach and go to the Ploy Talay restaurants where the fire show is performed.
